Digitizing Lettering Workshop

In this hands-on intensive workshop, you will drive the process of digitizing and polishing a final color digital artwork.

In this 7 hour hands-on workshop, you will drive the process of vectorizing your hand-drawn sketch, and adding color and texture. You will learn how to make your pieces of lettering stand out through different layers of decoration and digital treatments.

This workshop will give you the tools to work with letter shapes in a digital environment and translate them into vector files, often neccessary for its use in logotypes, branding and other projects.

It is ideal for beginners as well as advanced letterers who want to learn how to better digitize their designs.

What topics are you covering?

The workshop is 25% theoretical and 75% hands-on, covering topics such as: the digital drawing, working with extreme points, digitizing your sketch, adding color and texture, best practices at digitizing and advanced knowledge (according to the project). Martina provides insights on the professional work as a lettering artist in a Q&A session.

Instructor

Martina Flor combines her talents as both a designer and an illustrator in the drawing of letters. Based in Berlin, she runs one of the world’s leading studios in lettering and custom typography, working for clients all over the globe such as The Washington Post, Vanity Fair, HarperCollins, Etsy, Adobe, Mercedes Benz, and Lufthansa, i.a.

Martina Flor earned her Master’s in Type Design from the esteemed Royal Academy of Art in The Hague, The Netherlands. Since then she has dedicated a large part of her time to teaching lettering and type design. Martina travels extensively within and outside Europe to help designers cultivate their skills through workshops.
