I’m really happy to announce that I’m holding a lettering workshop in London on the 3rd of May 2014. It is tailored for beginners and for those with previous experience who want to improve their techniques to draw letters. It will take place in London East at Jackson’s Art. Come along! I’m moving out and therefore organising my work. I’ve put together the books that I’ve designed in the last time and I embrace the variety of topics that I dealt with. Although I love working for very different mediums, I personally think that books are one of the best supports to work with lettering. While writers shape text and language to tell their story, I create letters to sum up the content into one picture, using basically the same elements. Letters arise from inside to outside and take a new shape.
It might also be that I woke up slightly sensitive today 🙂
I’m so happy to finally present ‘Wonderhand’, my new extensive Family of Scripts with 63 fonts. Designed in six widths and 3 weights it introduces a third axis, the slant, with an upright 0° cut, a 20° cut and a 40° cut for each.

Like every year I conducted a short Project of Type Design at Hochschule Anhalt. I help students to build an own typeface throughout two intense weeks. All the projects are uploaded to a site where they could be downloaded for personal use and further development. These year 12 fonts were developed, have a look here.
For this year’s Handsome Frank Emporium at the Graphics Art Festival Pick me up London I created a series of prints with quotes from movies. I’ll be also be present on friday the 2nd of May customising notebooks for those who visit Handsome Frank’s stand. If you’re in London, drop by! note: quotes are from ‘Jaws’, ‘Dumbo’ and ‘Sleeping Beauty’.

In the past weeks I have been exploring and interpreting wood type, collecting symbols and exploring letterforms. I’ll compile all the designs into a collection that I’ll be releasing soon.
I just got a new creative gadget: Pencil by FiftyThree. It’s a tool to use on paper app available for iPad. For those who were curious to see how it works, here’s a short demo! And here’s one of my doodles made with pencil and paper app. #MadeWithPaper
I’ve hold a workshop in digital lettering on the 8th of March 2014. It was a workshop targeted for alumni and for attendants with previous experience. We learned how to draw letters into vectors. See more pics from that dayhere. But most important: we got our own #oscarselfie
Since some years I’ve been documenting lettering I find on the streets. I decided to starting sharing these and opened a simple blog for it. It can be filtered by city and it’s constantly growing. You can have a look here.
I’m really excited about this postcards series that I’m working on now. They are 36 unique designs that will be printed in awesome letterpress. These will be available in the german speaking countries and I cannot wait to see them out there. Großartig!
